A beautiful and, for my collection, unique medal of Frederick Wilhelm III of Prussia. It appears to commemorate the restoration of Neufchâtel which if memory serves me was the possession of Marechal Berthier before his literal fall. This restoration took place before his demise however.

The clock has struck twelve on the reverse and I wondered whether the engraver was making a subtle comment about new beginnings.

In the Bramsen catalogs Bramsen marked those medals that he possessed a copy of with an asterisk before the catalog number. He didn't own one of these and commented (as best I make the French out) that those he didn't own could be considered rare.
