Onviously this is a variant of Br. 878 with a completely different obverse and a distinctly different exergue legend on the reverse. It also actually measures 24mm. But Br. 878 is as close as it comes. The reverse exergue shows that the engraver had a problem with the date, first engraving a 12 and then changing it to a 14. The date commemorates the signing of the Treaty of Schnbrunn, sometimes known as the Treaty of Vienna. On October 12th there was a botched assassination attempt by a young German patriot and one wonders whether the date was actually botched or if it was a political statement.
