The map at left shows the boundaries of Brunswick in 1792. They remained virtually unchanged until early 1807 (right) when it was absorbed first into Hanover and then made part of the new Kingdom of Westphalia.
 
This coin must have been struck using dies that had already been prepared before the duchy was dismantled by Napoleon. Krause says that there was separate coinage for Luneburg during the reign of George III of which this would be an example.
