This interesting coin is from the Roman Republic which dated from February 15, 1798 to September 29, 1799. The Répertoire des Monnaies Napoléonides that I have shows similar coins for Ancone, Ascoli, Civitavecchia, Fermo, Gubbio, Pergola, Perrugia, Rome and Spolete in a total of 21 types and a bewildering array of varities. As best I can determine this is one of the types for the city of Rome itself.
