Obverse - The three crowns of Sweden surrounding the letters GA IV, Gustaf IV Adolf (1792-1809), the cypher being crowned.
Reverse - ½ SKILLING 1805, crossed arrows.
Size, 30 mm.
 
I'm glad I finally photo'd this coin! It is the same type as the 1803 example also on this site yet looks like it had been beaten up. Krause has a hint as to what happened though. Next to 1805 in the catalog is an asterisk which leads to the following information:
"Struck over 18th century 1 ore - worth 50 per cent to 100 per cent more if earlier date visible."
Not my luck I guess, but portions of the earlier coin show clearly through, leaving someone holding the coin with the impression that it had been scraped with metal tools. Not the case as you can see. I do wonder whether the pitting seen slightly on the obverse and heavily on the reverse comes from that earlier coin. The earlier coin also appears to have been rotated 180 degrees before being struck over. All in all an extremely satisfying coin for less than 5 dollars.
