Protector's Medal
Obverse - A young woman stands holding a fasces, she burns incense on an altar. Legend, KENNT BRÜDER EURE MACHT SIE LIEGT IN UNSRER TREU At the woman's feet, I ABERLI F. Exergue, MDCCCIIII	Reverse - Within a wreath the legend, DER CANTON ZÜRICH DEN BESCHÜTZEREN VATERLANDES.
Size, 35 mm.

A medal dedicated by Zürich to the protectors of the fatherland. (beschützen = protect) It appears that Aberli engraved several varieties of medals to be given 'to the officers of the troops who in 1804 helped put down the insurrection known as the "Bockenkrieg"' (Forrer, Vol I., p 12.)
