The subject of this medal is a meeting of three choirs, (Worcester, Gloucester and Hereford), which by triennial rotation was to be celebrated in 1788 at Worcester on the 27th 28th and 29th August, its object being the relief of clergymen's widows and orphans in the three dioceses. The King declared his intention of honouring the meeting with his presence, provided the meeting could be held on the 6th, 7th and 8th August, and that the orchestra could receive the addition of his private band. The meeting was held apparently with great success. See Gentleman's Magazine 1788, vol. II, pp. 755ff.
