The Centenary of the Revolution (i.e., the replacement of a Catholic sovereign by a Protestant monarchy) was celebrated throughout Great Britain. The Gentleman's Magazine of 1788 gives descriptions of several Jubilee celebrations, and particularly those at Whittington and Chesterfield, noting that 'The people were impressed with the strongest sense of the inestimable blessings which the Kingdoms enjoyed in consequence of the glorious Revolution of 1688'.
Some specimens are slightly smaller than the size quoted and these are frequently pierced and are suspended from a beige coloured ribbon.
There are several minor varieties of this medal.
