VIRTUTE NIHIL OBSTAT & ARMIS ( Rien ne résiste à son courage et à ses armes ). Femme ailée, assise, tenant une croix, et ayant près d’elle une tête de squelette, et représentant la Religion; elle tient un écusson qu’elle couronne et sur lequel on voit le buste de face de l’amiral Nelson; on lit autour: A. LD. NELSON (Admiral lord Nelson) (Amiral lord Nelson). Dans le fond, on voit une pyramide, un lion, un palmier, et une harpe. Exergue : VICTORY OF THE NILE AIG^T. I . 1798. (Victoire du Nil. 1^er août 1798 )• Au-dessus de l’exergue à droite, on lit : WYON.

SUB HOC SIGNO VINCES ( Tu vaincras sous ce signe ). Un trophée formé de l’écusson des armes d’Angleterre, d’une ancre, et d’une banderole, sur laquelle on lit : LAUS DEO NOV. 29 1798 ( Louange à Dieu, 29 novembre 1798 ). En haut, un œil rayonnant. En bas, sur le terrein qui soutient le trophée, on lit : WYON. [39^m].

   Cette médaille a été frappée pour rappeler les réjouissances faites à Londres le 29 novembre 1798, à l’occasion de la bataille navale d’Aboukyr du 1^er. août précédent. Elle m’a paru devoir être classée à la date de la bataille, avec les précédentes.
   Wyon est le nom du graveur de cette pièce.
   La légende du revers est l’inscription du Labarum de Constantin.

The date on the reverse of this medal is possibly an error for Nelson's birth date, 29th September. The Gentleman's Magazine records that prayers were offered for the victory in St Paul's Cathedral on 21st October 1798 and the following two Sundays.
