This piece very occasionally occurs in a circular black imitation shagreen case with an advertisement for the author's next medal on a circular piece of paper affixed to the back. Milford Haven is incorrect in stating that this piece is by Wyon and that it was struck in 1820. There is an obverse cliche in copper gilt in the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery.
The Flaxman drawing for the reverse of this piece is noted in the Flaxman catalogue: David Bindman (ed.), Flaxman and designs for medals and coins exhibited at the Royal Academy. London, 1979, p. 136. This piece also exists as a box medal, see No. 1056. See also note to No. 574.
