BUONAPARTE CONSUL. Buste à cheveux longs, à gauche, en uniforme boutonné.

Size:

Reverse:

ZUM ANDENKEN DES FRIEDENS. Génie ailé, tenant de la main gauche deux couronnes, et de la main droite une torche renversée.

Exergue:

This medal commemorates the signing of the Peace of Lunéville in 1801. The obverse has a portrait of a young Napoleon with long hair pulled back into a tail. The reverse shows an angel flying over the implements of war. This was obviously produced in a German speaking country but neither Bramsen or d'Essling indicate which it might be. Fortiter translates the legends as: "To commemorate the peace signed at Luneville on 9 February 1801".
