An altar on which is a phenix, his head turned to the sun above on the right; the altar is adorned with the square and compasses. At the foot of the altar on the right is a trowel, and on the left the gavel and compasses.

Vern's Comments:

The description above comes from a rare book on Freemason's medals. The author listed the medals size in sixteenths of an inch. So the above was 1 3/16".
Julius 1347. 9.9 grams.

It is possibly a cast copy. The dealer sold it as such but I would have to say it's an exceptional copy if it is.

The installation of the Phœnix Lodge at Paris took place on the 14th June 1804.
