Vern's Comments:

This is a variant from the Edwards example described above. In Bramsen there are three jetons with the same reverse; 456—458.

Edwards:

Edwards - 143
Plate X. No. 5 (variant) 26th December, 1805. Jetton.
The Emperor Napoleon. R. Presburg, 11th December, 1805.
NAPOLEON EMPEROR DES FRANÇAIS. Laureated head, to the right.
R. DURCH KRIEG DEN SIEG UND FRIEDEN. (Victory and peace [obtained] by war.) A mounted warrior, to the right, having the baton of command. Exergue: PRESBURG D. 11. DEC (den eilfte December) 1805. (Presburg, the 11th of December, 1805.) [28"]
Inedited. Cabinet of Madame Sœhnée.
It is by mistake that this piece bears the date of the 11th December; it was on the 26th that the treaty of peace between France and Austria was signed at Presburg. The negotiations were opened on the 9th at Brunn, between M. de Talleyrand and Prince John of Lichenstein.
