LEGE DUCE COMITE JUSTITIA. (Law guides, Justice accompanies.) Justice holding the balances and the sword, and Law holding a book. They are standing with one arm interlaced. To the right, the orb and an oar. Exergue: MERCIÉ A LYON. (Mercié, Lyons.)
R. QUIETAM NEMO IMPUNE LACESSET. (None would disturb his repose with impunity.) A palm-tree, in the top of which is a bird, and against its trunk a buckler, bearing the Medusa's head. [33"]
