   Obverse :- On the breast of a double-headed eagle displayed or, a shield of Arms of the city of Perth (see Perthshire No. 2) with the Motto: Pro Rege Lege et Grege on a riband, supported by the talons of the eagle, and between two thistles. Legend :- PERTH HALFPENNY 1797
   Reverse :- A spirit still with a retort and worm-tub, a measure, and part of a cask; the entire design being enclosed within a dotted circle.
Legend :-PAYABLE AT DAVID PETERS WINE & SPIRIT SHOP.
   Edge :- Diagonally milled.

Comments. David Peters was a wine and spirit dealer, keeping a "shop" in Perth.
   The reverse shows an ordinary distillery apparatus, consisting of a boiler for containing the fermented wash or liquor; a retort, and a worm carried through water in the worm-tub to condense the alcoholic vapour that rises from the boiler.
