Vern's Comments:

Jean Jacques Barre was not active as an engraver as early as 1796. From hints in his entry in Forrer and the physical evidence of this piece I would date the engraving from 1830-31. Hygeia is the Greek goddess of health. The color difference between obverse and reverse usually occurs when a piece has resided in a cabinet for a long period of a time.
