Vern's Comments:

The main difference between Bramsen 370 and 371 is the order of the wording on the bar of the exergue on the reverse. Also this variant is a full 3 mm smaller than 370. The Edwards definition is obviously the larger medal but I went ahead and included it here as well.

On a bronze table place between the plinth and the pedestal of the Apollo, was engraved an inscription to this effect: "The statue of Apollo, which stands on this pedestal.....found at Antium towards the end of the fifteenth century, placed in the Vatican by Julius the Second, at the commencement of the sixteenth century, and conquered in the fifth year of the Republic by the army of Italy, under the command of General Bonaparte.....was placed here on the 21st Germinal in the year VIII. (11th April, 1800),—the first year of his consulate." Its place was at the bottom of the saloon, in a niche flanked by two columns from Aix-la-Chapelle.
