The principality was a gift of Napoleon to his sister and her husband who ruled from 1805 to 1814. She tired of her husband long before her country tired of her.

Il pezzo del 1805 elencato dal Corpus al n. 5, è riferito al Medagliere Milanese, ma trattasi evidentemente di un errore, perché non vi è mai stato presente; ne abbiamo però rintracciato un esemplare nella collezione Murray Heiserman di Baltimora, che ne conferma l'esistenza, fino ad ora dubbia, di questo pezzo della più esimia rarità, di cui l'illustrazione.
Quelli del 1809 e 1810, ai nn. 18 e 20 del Corpus, sono stati riportati dal Massagli, ma nessuno li ha mai visti, per cui si ritengono inesistenti.
