A nice, though worn coin, this illustrates Papal coinage from the period immediately prior to the Roman Republic (1798-1799).
 
The Copper Coinage of the Papal States lists this as No. 810 on page 24. The description there says:
2½ baiocchi 1796-97. Similar with S .P. APOSTOLORVM PRINCEPS and the bust facing to left.
